Cobargo District Museum (CDM) Update
There has been much excitement and action at the CDM!
The Museum’s Committee explained: ‘Moving into the former Information Centre premises has been a game changer for us. In addition to having more historical display area our important retail opportunities are also greater. In addition to our existing fresh fruit, vegetables and plants we now sell the ever-popular honey. All this (excluding the honey) is generously donated and provides the community with a valuable source of fresh produce.’
As one of the Museum’s founding members, Vicky Hoyer said, ‘Like most community organisations, we are all volunteers and we share a passion to preserve our heritage and history. In addition, we will also be offering historical photographs and copies of historical maps and historical family research for a small fee. We rely heavily on community support and would welcome any new volunteers to share the day-to-day load, as it were.’

Many thanks to all who donated to the map’s framing.
The Museum has also received grants from museum-related organisations (Museum and Galleries NSW) as well as cash grants from other Cobargo community organisations including the Bowerbird Op Shop and the Bermagui Men’s Shed. Meat raffles and other events at the Cobargo Hotel are also a valuable source of income.
In support of the upcoming Mother’s Day, the Museum will have some gifts available for our valuable mums and a raffle provided by Mary Vale Lavender.
Sandy Reed is also developing the Museum’s website and the Facebook Group is well frequented.
Lastly a big thank you to Peter, Paul, Warrick and Mike for assisting with moving furniture.
The Museum intends to open for five days a week and can help community members in researching family members and other historical matters.
