The Spring Youth Music Festival returns to Four Winds
Come together and celebrate our young musical stars at Four Winds on Sunday, 22 November.
Every November, more than 200 students from across the Bega Valley and beyond gather at Four Winds for a day filled with music, connection and community. Joined by their teachers, mentors and professional musicians, they come together on the Windsong Pavilion stage to share what they’ve been learning and celebrate the joy of making music together.
A much-loved annual tradition, the Spring Youth Music Festival is a chance to cheer on our region’s young talent, catch up with friends and experience what happens when generations come together to make music in place. From orchestras and choirs to emerging soloists, this year promises to be the most exciting festival yet.
Curated by David Hewitt, Four Winds’ Create & Inspire Director, the festival is part of a year-round program of workshops, instrument tuition, mentorship and in-school programs, giving young people the opportunities to discover music, build confidence and learn together.
In the week before the festival, students will also take part in masterclasses and workshops with leading Australian musicians, including Luminescence Chamber Singers. The six vocalists will perform a solo show at Four Winds on Saturday, 14 November at 2.00 pm, presenting Particles of Light, a celebration of the human voice featuring music by Elena Kats-Chernin and Nardi Simpson’s Yarrager Mayraa.
The Four Winds Community Orchestra (FWCO) will premiere two new works by beloved local composers Geoffrey Badger and Nick Keeling. Body of Water and Songcrafters draw inspiration from the role of water in regional life and the way music flows through our communities – a fitting tribute to the people and places that bring us together.
Come along and support our young musicians and be part of a day that celebrates the people, connections and shared love of music that make our community so special.
