You don’t need to be a musician to feel the beat
Last month, around fifty people, singers, non-singers, and everyone in between, came together for our inaugural Cobargo Music Art and Culture (CoMAC) weekend workshop. ‘Voices in Cobargo’ was a singing workshop led by two wonderful humans, Rachel Hore OAM and Geoffrey Badger.
What happened over the weekend was very special, uplifting, inspirational and deeply satisfying. That same magic is coming back to Cobargo, this time through rhythm. We’re hosting the second CoMAC workshop with the Australian music legend, Greg Sheehan, from Friday 29 May to Sunday 31 May.
Greg is a master percussionist who has played with some of the most recognisable performers in the world including Sinead O’Connor, Goanna, Archie Roach, Shane Howard, Kev Carmody, Hothouse Flowers, Donal Lunny and Coolfin, the Cat Empire and Jeff Lang.
He’s performed at the Cobargo Folk Festival, WOMAD UK, WOMADelaide, Woodford, TEDx and the Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide Festivals.
The Cobargroove Rhythm weekend is open to everyone – whether you’ve been playing for years or you’ve always secretly wanted to explore rhythm but never knew where to start, here’s your opportunity.
Greg has a gift for making rhythm feel natural, joyful and accessible. Some of you will have experienced Greg’s Rhythm Diamonds workshop at the 2026 Cobargo Folk Festival and know how good it feels! Perfect for musicians of any instrument, dancers, singers and anyone keen to dive into rhythm.
Spaces for this fully catered weekend of fun are limited, so don’t wait!
Tickets are available through the CoMAC Cobargo website.
CoMAC is an initiative of the Yuin Folk Club/Cobargo Folk Festival with support from Create NSW.
