Community Art Exhibition – Harbour
Shop7 ArtSpace Gallery of Bermagui is hosting their annual exhibition of artworks in any medium relating to the theme, Harbour. Gallery visitors can expect to enjoy artworks by more than 30 local artists.
There are still a few days left until entries close on Tuesday 4 August. Pick up your entry forms at Shop7 ArtSpace Gallery, on the upper deck at the Bermagui Fishermen’s Wharf overlooking the boat harbour, or email coastclay@gmail.com.
We welcome everyone to our opening night on Friday 7 August, from 5.00 pm to 7.00 pm, when awards will be announced. We thank local businesses for their support with small donations to award to the creator of their favorite artwork. There is also the People’s Choice Award of two free weeks exhibiting as a Guest Artist at Shop7 ArtSpace Gallery. So, call in and vote for your favorite.
The Harbour exhibition is on until 1 September and can be seen from 10.30 am to 3.00 pm at Shop7 ArtSpace Gallery Bermagui every day of the week except Wednesdays. Meet the artist on duty while you’re there.
My new painting of the majestic albatross that graces our water will be included in the exhibition. Many years ago, I’d go fishing off Bermagui where albatross would soar between the waves. Sometimes they’d pick up the lure we were trolling and get hooked, so Dad would gently reel it into the boat and fearlessly remove the hook. The gentle giant would walk around in the boat for a while until it jumped up on the side and flew off. What an honor to be so close.
