Bowerbird Community Op Shop awards
Thank you to the Bowerbird Op Shop
The members of Marine Rescue Bermagui are deeply honoured to receive the 2025 Community Award of $10,000. We are very grateful to be recognised in this way, and we want to acknowledge the Bowerbird Op Shop for the fantastic work it does for the community. Thank you also to everyone who voted for us and considered our efforts and achievements worthy of such an award.

Waking up early Saturday, 1 November, the rain had eased to fog in the sleepy town of Cobargo. A gentle rumble of cars, trucks, bikes and trailers carrying some awesome machinery could be heard as they made their way to the Cobargo Showgrounds.
As many of you will be aware, in the wake of the Black Summer bushfires local blacksmiths, Iain Hamilton and Philippe Ravenel, began an ambitious memorial project to build a commemorative metal tree. In their words, ‘We’re going to get everyone in the community to come out and forge a leaf and develop a sculpture that will last a thousand years.’
On 15 September 1925, Thomas and Valerie Gourlay announced to the Cobargo community the birth of their first child, a daughter Norma. Norma was reared in Cobargo along with her younger sister Beth. Norma has just celebrated her 100th birthday at the Cobargo Hotel along with family members and invited guests tallying fifty.
On 3 September 2025, students from Cobargo Public School performed at the South Coast Dance and Drama Festival held at the Yuin Theatre, Bay Pavilions, Batemans Bay.
The museum preserves the history of Cobargo and the district, to ensure our unique heritage is celebrated and shared for generations to come. The volunteer-run museum can be found at Shop 2, 52 Princes Highway, Cobargo and is open Thursdays and Fridays from 10.00 am until 2.00 pm and Saturdays from 9.00 am to noon.
