Waking up early Saturday, 1 November, the rain had eased to fog in the sleepy town of Cobargo. A gentle rumble of cars, trucks, bikes and trailers carrying some awesome machinery could be heard as they made their way to the Cobargo Showgrounds.

This iconic combination is often linked to the English holly (Ilex aquifolium), with its evergreen leaves and bright red berries. Amid the European snow, holly symbolised hope during the depths of winter and was central to ancient solstice celebrations long before Christmas as we know it was celebrated.
