Colours of Tilba: Carole Corrie at Mane & Tales Studio
The colours, moods and changing rhythms of the Far South Coast will take centre stage at Mane & Tales Studio in Bermagui, with Colours of Tilba, an exhibition of paintings by Central Tilba artist Carole Corrie, opening on 15 November 2026 and running until 10 January 2027.
Drawing inspiration from the natural world around her, Carole’s paintings bring together ocean, earth, sky, sun, moon, stars and mist. At the heart of the collection is Gulaga, Mother Mountain, whose presence and shifting weather patterns have become an enduring source of inspiration. From the first light of sunrise to evening stars and passing storms, Carole observes the changing atmosphere of the mountain and its surrounding landscape, including distant ocean views and local fauna.
The exhibition also turns towards the intimate details of home and garden. A series of paintings follows the Peace Rose from bud to full bloom, reflecting Carole’s personal association with the flower as a symbol of peace on Earth. Further east, Mystery Bay offers another landscape of contrasts, from still, mist-covered morning waters to the movement and colour of waves breaking against the earthy forms of the rocks.
Born in Melbourne in 1957, Carole studied Art Design at Brighton Technical School before continuing her education in Graphic Art at Swinburne College of Technology. Since moving to country NSW in 1978, she has developed her practice through workshops at the National Art School and Hill End. Painting en plein air has remained central to her work, with journeys taking her from Scotland Island and Lord Howe Island to New Zealand, Europe and across the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
Now settled in Central Tilba, Carole paints in the presence of Gulaga, finding inspiration in the mountain, the ocean and the landscapes beyond.
Colours of Tilba runs from 15 November 2026 to 10 January 2027 at Mane & Tales Studio at Shop 2/3 Wallaga Street, Bermagui.
Join us at the opening on Sunday, 15 November from 4.00 pm to 6.00 pm. All are welcome.
