Woodwork exhibition at the Narooma Leisure Centre
by Chris Birks
Love hand-made? Love the look of beautifully crafted timber? Then the annual Woodwork Show is for you. The Narooma Leisure Centre, near the round-about, will host the 29th exhibition of fine woodwork crafted by artisans from north of Batemans Bay to south of Bega on the June long weekend. Exquisite, handcrafted items will be both on display and for sale, ranging from small toys to cutting boards and serving platters; from fine jewellery boxes to pens; bowls – both functional and decorative, and much more. Come and watch the magic of wood turners at work on the lathes, and stroll through the exhibition space and vote for your favorite piece on display.
Another attraction at the Show is the Dalmeny Quilters who are highly respected artisans and will have their quilts and other handcrafted pieces on display, some of which will also be on sale.
Entry to the Show is just $2 per adult and children under 16 are free. You each get to vote for your favourite entry in the exhibition and have the chance to buy raffle tickets to win some great prizes, e.g. a barbecue donated by Bunnings at Batemans Bay and beautifully crafted timber pieces made by our club members.
If you are having visitors to our region and are looking for something to entertain them, then come along to the exhibition and sales days at lovely Narooma. You may recall this event taking place in Tilba over previous years, however they are renovating their Community Halls so Narooma is the location this year.
So, put the date in your diary – Saturday 7 June from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm, and Sunday 8 June from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm. We look forward to meeting you there.
