Quaama Public School Happenings
There are many lovely advantages to having your child attend a small school. Quaama Public School may be small in population, but it has a packed calendar with a vast variety of unique learning opportunities for students. Principal Daniel Roe was beaming at a recent P&C meeting as he recalled that multiple visitors to the school had commented on the peaceful, settled and engaged learning environment.
Upon reflection, the Term 3 calendar certainly has been quite full. The school has welcomed a diverse range of teaching and support staff recently, including weekly Spanish lessons, library visits incorporating AUSLAN, tennis workshops and the FLING Physical Theatre.
The school’s senior students hosted their annual Fundraiser in the Park. Matthew Farran, the senior classroom teacher, said the class thanked all those who contributed. It was a glorious morning of weather and with plenty of people tasting the baked goods and bacon and egg rolls.
The senior class achieved their aim to raise money to support their sponsorship of a Kenyan student, Muthea, and her community – a fantastic result!
The next fundraiser will be the Christmas Fair in December.
The students enjoyed their first lunch orders from the school canteen for many years. The canteen was lively with volunteers cooking and preparing ham and cheese toasties, sausage rolls, chicken wraps as well as delicious muffins and fruit salads. The smiling faces and lovely manners arriving at the canteen window were a joy.
The Small School, Big Heart spirit is echoed in the efforts of those who are able to give their time. A very big thank you to the wonderful volunteers for the day – Hollie Harvey, Jess Stokes and Vicki Harding; it was a pleasure to collaborate with such generous people.

Canteen dates in Term 4 are 22 October, 5 and 19 November as well as 3 and 17 December. Volunteers will be paired with a parent helper to ensure many hands make light work.

With the end of the year around the corner, Quaama Public School is holding Kindy Orientation sessions for any families in the area looking to enrol their children.
The P&C will host a morning tea on Thursday, 12 November at 10.00 am for parents and community members interested in finding out more about the school’s beautiful spaces, exciting learning programs and opportunities. Senior students and canteen staff will prepare a selection of sweets and baked goods for all to enjoy.
