Tilba Central Makers Emporium
Phil Shorten’s journey to open the doors of the Makers Emporium is nearly at its destination. As I write, the necessary fire upgrades and security requirements are being finalised and the finishing touches are being done to the building. With the Grand Opening planned for a yet to be announced date in March, the next few weeks will see the fitout completed, stock brought in and displays prepared.
Art exhibitions showcasing local artists are planned with the first exhibition scheduled for April.
A brand and marketing specialist has guided the development of the Makers Emporium brand with the tagline ‘authentic lives here’ that encapsulates the Emporium philosophy of locally made for local consumption.
Michael Hodgson who handcrafted and painted the Tilba highway signs to the north and south of the villages has done the shop signage. Inspired by the existing shop signage in Central Tilba, he has hand crafted the Emporium signs using traditional methods and a steady hand.
Adam Kesper from Raven Wood Guitars and Andy and Amy Read from Tilbawoods are busy preparing their stock and displays, ready for the much-anticipated opening.
Phil deserves hearty congratulations for his perseverance and commitment in keeping his vision alive.
