The Vegetable Plot brings Love and Peas to Quaama - The Triangle Community Newspaper

Hey, good buds, this is Luke – better known as Aspara-Gus – from Australian children’s music band The Vegetable Plot. We’re excited to announce that we’ll be bringing our award-winning live show to Quaama on Friday 21 November. It’s the first time we’ve ever performed in this beautiful part of NSW and we’re really looking forward to it. We’d like to thank our friend and fellow musician Melanie Horsnell, a local resident, for encouraging us to make the journey down south.

For those who don’t know us, we’re a children’s band, twice nominated for ARIA awards, who play funky-fresh tunes about fruits and veggies – what we call our ‘veggie bangers’. There are also songs about creativity, imagination and mental health. Unlike some children’s acts, we don’t use pre-recorded backing tracks. All our music is performed live. Our shows are a joyful, organic experience that captivate audiences of all ages, with plenty of opportunities for audience participation, as well as musical references and jokes to appeal to the older members of the crowd.

2025 has been a breakthrough year for us. Our latest album, Season Three, has been nominated for a number of awards, including the ARIA for Best Children’s album; we’ve had our first ‘hit song’ on US radio (a track from the new album called ‘Cucumber Rumba’); we’ve embarked on our biggest tour ever; and have recently received funding from YouTube and Screen Australia to create an original animated series based on our songs and characters. So, it’s official – our mission to spread Love and Peas is blossoming like never before.

Our show at Quaama School of Arts, 21 November, begins at 5.00 pm (doors open 4.45 pm) and goes for about an hour. All ages are welcome, though we find that our music connects most strongly with kids aged between three and seven years old. The Triangle, a not-for-profit, local, community newspaper, comes out on the first day of every month except January. Published since 2002 we have a print circulation of 1800, with a larger circulation over the summer holiday season. Our paper is free and available in print and online. If you live outside the Triangle area, an annual subscription of $45.00 will cover delivery of all 11 issues.
