Triangle ‘Haiku’ Challenge

Here is something to keep your brain active on these rainy, indoor days: an online ‘Haiku’ Challenge!

The rules are simple. A 3-line poem consisting of 5 syllables in the first line, then 7 syllables in the second, and 5 syllables in the third. It can be as serious or silly as you like. Put your poet hat on, write one and send it to us at contributions@thetriangle.org.au.

We’ll put together another post in a few days with all the haikus from subscribers.

Here are some the Triangle committee came up with:

I know we need rain
But I want to go outside
Sunshine tomorrow?

Dams and tanks brimful.
At risk of farmers’ ire, I’ll
Call it now – enough!

Slowdown in Sydney
Furious, frantic movement
Bows to Covid’s curse

Drumming on the roof
Penetrates the burnt landscape
Enabling spring

Knead sourdough bread
Pandemic panacea
Giving rise to hope
